JAMB Registration date for 2019 finally Announced

JAMB Registration date for 2019 finally Announced

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the sales of JAMB registration form for 2019 UTME will commence on January 10th, 2019. The announcement was made by JAMB's Registrar Professor Oloyede during a meeting with owners of JAMB Computer Based Test Centres at the University of Lagos.
According to professor Oloyede, the sales of form will start January 10th and last for 6 weeks. Followed by the examination in March. He further disclosed that the board will not allow Cyber Cafe operators to register candidates because they are extorting candidates and overcharging them and also engaging in services that they do not have the capacity to do.

Based on earlier reports, The JAMB form will be sold for N3,500 as directed by the Federal Government. Detailed information, such as procedures for registering, will be provided to you on this above specified date. You can visit this website for updates.
The professor urged all prospective candidates to do their registration and access the board’s major services in any of its 718 accredited centres in the country. He assured that the general elections would not affect the sale of forms, adding that the board had adjusted its examination schedule ahead of the election.
With this announcement, all prospective candidates are urged to kick start their preparation towards the 2019 UTME. For a start, candidates are advised to use the 2019 JAMB Brochure, to confirm the courses they intend to study, requirements and schools that offer such courses. Also, the 2019 JAMB Syllabus  will help guide you on the topics you are required to cover for each of the subjects you will be taking in 2019 UTME.
Schools, Institutions, Tutorial Centres, Business Centres & Cafes can equally act as JAMB CBT Agents and Training Centres to help train students for the upcoming exams.
Prof Oloyede equally revealed that there will be special centres for visually impaired candidates. He added that the board was already considering the introduction of a new technology for smooth conduct of the examination for such candidates.
He finally warned that the board would not tolerate any JAMB-related materials in all the centres, especially question papers, as most often turned out to be fake, thereby duping innocent candidates. He said that JAMB would also not hesitate to blacklist any centre that attempted to undermine the integrity of its examination through infractions.

ASUU STRIKE CONTINUES

ASUU STRIKE CONTINUES

The ongoing strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) continues as the leaders of the union and the Federal government failed to reach an agreement again.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, presided over a resumed negotiation with the striking university lecturers on Monday at the ministry’s office in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The meeting unlike previous ones which ended inconclusively had ASUU National President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, and other leaders of the union walk out of the meeting.

Professor Ogunyemi, however, refused to speak to newsmen about the outcome of the meeting and why the union leaders stormed out after about two hours.
But in an interview with newsmen after the meeting, Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige insisted that the lecturers did not walk out.
When asked the outcome of the meeting, the labour minister said negotiations were still on and that the government was poised to ensure all knotty issues were resolved before Christmas to enable students return to classes.
According to him, we gave ourselves some assignment with different Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) on what to do.
“They brought their reports today and we took the reports and we were supposed to do some implementation on the reports.
“So we are going to give ourselves some days for it to be done and to see whether we can accomplish them before Christmas,” he said.
He added that there is no dissatisfaction by the union as “we have already agreed on implementation and we have given ourselves some work plan”.
He, however, said that the only difference for the implementation on the agreement reached was only a matter of days before Christmas for the discussions.
“So that for students who are home, will have some hope of resuming in January and those who have missed their exams this time will also have hope for first week in January.
“So, the issue of shortfall in salaries are being worked on, among other major issues, and I will be meeting with the Minister of Finance tomorrow to find out the stage of implementation of that. So there is progress,” Ngige added.

ASUU Strike Day 42, Strike will soon be called off

ASUU Strike Day 42, Strike will soon be called off

The federal government has stated that going by the discussion and meetings had with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the past few weeks, the ongoing strike action by the union  which has paralysed academic activities in the universities nationwide will soon be called off. This was disclosed by the Minister of Labour and employment, Dr Chris Ngige.
According to him, this is due to the fact that the Federal Government has put into consideration some of ASUU’s demands, including the submission of the union’s list of outstanding payments, and the identification of some areas in the universities in need of revitalization as contained  in the signed 2009 agreement.

The minister said talks with the union have so far been productive and fruitful, adding that the federal government was optimistic that the strike would soon be called off to pave way for students to resume academic activities.
He said: “There are areas that are still outstanding which we are going to address on the 17th. We have the issue of shortfall of salaries, that of some federal university workers.
